SA MENSWEAR WEEK SS24

Inganekwane: Inqina Le Nkhukhu

Alexandre Vosloo is the artist commissioned to bring the central illustration of the proverbial and humorous chicken foot to life for this collection.

This collection serves to be a palimpsest of the African fashion condition, with urban print imagination serving as the non-exclusionary metaphorical backdrop that

represents Africans in the world and gives reflection of the world to Africa just the same – through the central symbolism of the chicken foot. Sometimes spicy, sometimes

modest but as Ezokhetho would have it, always tasty. This is Ezokhetho’s fashion declaration: Luxury clothing that echoes the expansive tapestry of the African urban fabric

the world over. The Ezokhetho woman is ethereal, indulgent and a la mode.

The 90’s and noughties inspirations are purposeful and distinct. Diaphanous fabrics, curvaceous lines and with figure-aug-menting cuttings run alongside skimpy miniskirts.

Through signature swathes and cuts, the Ezokhetho fashion brushstroke purposefully combines the essence of the African woman and adapts it to a fashion-forward looking

stance that is vibrant, sassy and combines old-world craftsmanship with African modernity and Warhol-esque rebellion. The catalogue and colour palette of this collection is

an infectious collage that draws you in with rouge reds bleeding into pastel pinks and hyperbolic prints in every shade on blouses and along trench coats.

The humour of the chicken foot rides the air of polish and panache within the craftsmanship of the collection. True to form, it is the subtle communication that cuts through the accessories.

The combination of the African and Latin flair in embellishments without losing the taste for traditional costume and the folkloric.
